This project aims to create new businesses in the environment and energy sectors through collaboration between companies in our prefecture and overseas startups, targeting six ASEAN countries (Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, and Malaysia). Leave us has been entrusted with the same project for fiscal years 2022-2024. For fiscal year 2026, our goal is to create at least three new demonstration project design specifications, as we have done in the past.

In recent years, as companies expand overseas, there's a growing demand for "market-in" business creation that starts with local social issues, rather than simple product exports or establishing bases. To achieve this, collaboration with startups, who are key players in deeply understanding and addressing local challenges, is essential. For many years, we at Leave a Nest have been continuously discovering and nurturing startups and researchers in six Southeast Asian countries, building a network of over 1,800 teams. These teams possess technologies and businesses rooted in their respective local challenges, and they hold the potential to create new value through collaboration with Japanese companies.

In Vietnam, where Hiroshima Prefecture has a particular focus, we have a track record of collaborations with universities and companies, attracting startups to Japan, and creating joint ventures with Japanese companies, making it a region where collaborations can be fostered with commercialization in mind. In this project, we will leverage this network to create concrete collaboration opportunities with prefectural companies.

In this project, based on our contracting achievements over the past three years, we will design the initiative not merely for matching, but to increase the likelihood of business creation. Specifically, we will analyze the initiatives of companies we have supported in previous years, organize the problem structures according to business domains and the presence of overseas bases, and then solicit applications while presenting collaboration hypotheses for each company. Through this, we aim to attract companies that have a clear direction for business creation from the early stages.

Additionally, through workshops and individual meetings, we will construct business model hypotheses that link corporate assets with local social issues and verify their feasibility through dialogues with overseas startups. Furthermore, this year, in addition to developing design specifications, we will emphasize the creation of outputs that can demonstrate the business to external parties. We aim for concrete outcomes such as the signing of NDAs and MOUs, and the commencement of demonstration projects, striving to establish a state where projects can continue to progress even after the business period concludes.

This project will begin in April 2026 and will be carried out according to the following schedule, from recruiting companies in the prefecture to designing demonstration projects.

April-June 2026: Recruitment of companies within the prefecture (seminars and individual interviews)
July 2026: Kick-off workshop to be held
July-August 2026: Proposing new business initiatives and building hypotheses through collaboration with overseas startups
September 2026: Selection of three companies through presentation reviews and a networking event for selected companies
October 2026 - February 2027: Approximately 7 months of support (overseas travel, partnership building)
February 2027: Results reporting session and invitation of overseas startups
March 2027: Development of Demonstration Project Design Specifications
