Hamamatsu Overseas Development Seminar: From Hamamatsu to the World! How to Start Overseas Expansion of Local Companies was held.

On Saturday, July 5, 2025, Hamamatsu Iwata Shinkin Bank's incubation base "FUSE" held an overseas expansion seminar for local companies entitled "From Hamamatsu to the World! How to start overseas expansion of local companies" was held at FUSE, an incubation base of Hamamatsu Iwata Shinkin Bank.

The Hamamatsu region is a manufacturing hub boasting high technological and developmental capabilities, with a concentration of diverse manufacturing industries such as automobiles, transportation equipment, and musical instruments. As Japan's population continues to decline and domestic demand shrinks, local companies need to take on new challenges in order to achieve sustainable growth, and RIVERNESS Corporation advocates "expansion into overseas markets" as a place to take on these challenges. In particular, Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam, where many Hamamatsu-region companies are based, is attracting attention as a growing market and a place to utilize Japanese technology and business.

The seminar targeted small- and medium-sized manufacturing companies and regional start-ups that are considering expanding overseas, and invited regional companies that have actually begun the challenge of overseas expansion, Somic Management Holdings, Inc. and Kyowa Leather Co.

Somic Management Holdings has been running a one-year program with RIVANES to develop both business creation and human resources with a focus on Indonesia and other Asian countries, and Kyowa Leather has started a human resources development program to consider new business development in Malaysia. On the day of the event, we introduced the method of entering the local startup ecosystem from the initial stage through the angle of human resource development, and creating a hypothesis for startup collaboration based on a sense of local issues and the company's strengths. The participants also shared their goals for overseas expansion, their reasons for choosing the countries in which to expand, and the systems they felt they needed to build during the process.
