Report] Due to the popularity of the event, an additional event will be held! Deep Tech Tour in Malaysia

Deep Tech Tour in Malaysia, October 11-13, 2023.

This program is back after a three-and-a-half-year absence. Although it is called a "tour," it is not just a visit, but a plan to have participants make presentations at each place they visit to talk about their company's technology and vision, and actively engage in activities to create new businesses (See "Tour"):About Deep Tech Tours(See Section 2.1.2.).

This time, under the theme of "manufacturing," we visited 10 locations in three days, including local conglomerates engaged in new businesses in Malaysia, manufacturing companies, manufacturing bases, and venture companies, to show how Malaysia will become a hub for knowledge manufacturing in the future. Particular attention was paid to the "Cyberjaya" district. The government's special zone for technological development has attracted many cutting-edge ventures and companies, and has also attracted universities, hospitals, and other facilities, making it a new technology town that is continuing to develop. All of the participating companies were able to build direct relationships with the organizations they visited and return home with new opportunities for business creation. Please read through this report to find out more about the participants and their impressions of the program.

<Participant's voice

This tour provided an opportunity to introduce our business and exchange information with several major local companies that are our business targets, which was arranged after preliminary discussions, and we felt that this tour was the first step toward overseas business development that will lead to specific next activities. In order to embody our philosophy that issues and technologies rooted in physical phenomena are common regardless of language and culture, we will not miss this opportunity to continue activities that lead to results.(in Japanese history)CAST Corporation (Mr. Kei Nakatsuma, Representative Director)

This was my first visit to Malaysia, both publicly and privately, and I was surprised to see that the country has developed beyond my imagination. I also felt that this tour, like the one in Singapore, was a wonderful opportunity to reduce the enormous amount of time and cost required to connect with direct customers or potential collaborators in a "land of no human connections. As a country, it is still developing and full of potential. Unfortunately, as a region where we do business, construction demand is unstable and the market still needs to grow and mature. Public investment is suddenly halted one day due to the government's policies, and private investment seems to be the prerogative of only a limited number of players. Our analysis shows that the market is judged solely on the basis of cost reductions for the privileged rather than the shortage of labor and efficiency improvements, which are the problems we are trying to solve. On the other hand, if we can develop something that can address the problems and issues of this country through further development, we have a chance to expand at once. First, we will proceed with our initial goal of offshoring R & D by looking for a development partner.(in Japanese history)Kenrobotech Corporation (Mr. Tatsuya Mabe, Representative Director and CEO)

It was a very meaningful tour, as we were able to experience the ecosystem not only in Malaysia, but also in Southeast Asia and Africa. Personally, I also found it meaningful to interact with like-minded Japanese startups, and was greatly inspired by their sharp insights and sense of speed, as well as the clearer outlines of their own services and products through comparison with the approaches of other companies. I would like to continue to challenge and take action to become a process informatics company that solves manufacturing issues around the world in five years' time by connecting my visits to other regions, planting seeds, and taking concrete action on core technology and product development policies in Japan.(in Japanese history)i-Crystal Corporation (Mr. Yuki Hattori, Executive Officer, General Manager of PI Sales Dept.)

Thank you very much for the opportunity to participate in this Deep Tech Tour Malaysia. First of all, it was amazing to meet with the management of IOI Group, PETRONAS Group, and BousteadTechnology, which are the core companies in Malaysia, and I was able to strongly recognize their business potential. I was also able to understand the Malaysian government's support system for companies such as MRANTI and Cyberview. In this context, the Bank opened a representative office in Bangkok, Thailand 10 years ago, and has been acting as a business intermediary for companies that have advanced into the country and for leading Thai companies with which the Bank has business relationships in Thailand. I thought that the same kind of activities could be possible through LIBANES Malaysia, and that it would also be possible to encourage member companies and clients of FUSE, which is operated by MOHO, especially start-ups, to expand their business to Malaysia. On the other hand, I have the impression that the potential for collaboration between Malaysian start-ups and the clients of the MOHF is still in its infancy. We look forward to working with you in the future.(in Japanese history)Hamamatsu Iwata Shinkin Bank (Mr. Norimitsu Tanaka, General Manager, Solution Support Department)
