France
France is fostering deep tech as a national strategy, with BPI France at the center. The GDP ratio of R&D investment stands at about 2.2%, maintaining a high level in Europe. Research investment is advancing in cutting-edge fields such as AI, quantum, biotechnology, and clean technology, and universities including the University of Paris-Saclay boast some of the best research capabilities in Europe. Startups founded by universities are also increasing, accelerating the commercialization of research results. Moreover, the world’s largest startup hub, Station F, is attracting multinational teams and university-affiliated technology, forming an innovative ecosystem. As a revitalization measure, we will build on these research and startup infrastructure to promote knowledge circulation between France and Japan.
