Korea
Korea is globally competitive in the IT, semiconductor, and battery fields, and its speed from R&D to commercialization is a key feature. The supply chain for the semiconductor and battery industries, led by Samsung and SK, is highly developed, and the government has positioned the strengthening of industrial technology as a national strategy. Among universities and research institutes, KAIST, POSTECH, and Seoul National University have received high international recognition in the fields of materials science, AI, and engineering, and are extremely active in joint research with industry. The strength of the Korean ecosystem lies in its ability to rapidly apply and implement new technologies based on such industry-academia collaboration. With a high degree of complementarity in technological fields with Japan, Korea is an important partner that can contribute to the strengthening of the industrial base in Asia through joint research and demonstrations.
