Australia is a country with a global presence in the mineral resources and energy sectors due to its abundant natural resources and vast land. Renewable energy and large-scale agri-tech are being demonstrated, and the country's large land area is highly attractive as a field for technological development. In terms of research, the University of Melbourne, the University of Queensland, and the University of Sydney are internationally recognized in the life and environmental sciences, and the national research institute CSIRO is strongly promoting applied research with industry.
