RIVERNESS Corporation held its first TECH GARAGE Seminar at Center of Garage Malaysia, an incubation facility specializing in deep tech operated by the RIVERNESS Group in Malaysia, to introduce new Japanese and Malaysian technologies to local institutions to solve social issues and create new businesses. The Tech Garage Seminar was held for the first time.
On Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 13:30 to 16:00 local time, under the title of "TECH GARAGE Seminar Vol. 1 Novel Inspection Technology" and hosted by RIVERNESS, the speakers were CAST, a venture company from Kumamoto University in Japan that develops cutting-edge sensors for monitoring pipe corrosion, and Beyond Horizon Technologies Sdn Bhd, a venture company from Sarawak, Malaysia that specializes in infrastructure inspection using drones. CAST, a Kumamoto University venture company that develops cutting-edge sensors for monitoring pipe corrosion, and Beyond Horizon Technologies Sdn Bhd, a venture company from Sarawak, Malaysia that specializes in drone-based infrastructure inspections, took the stage. Cyberview, a development corporation that has an MoU with RIVANES and oversees and manages Malaysia's Cyberjaya special economic zone, also participated as a collaborative partner. As a result of the turnout, the seminar on the introduction of new inspection technologies attracted a total of 30 participants from about 10 local companies engaged in infrastructure and refinery piping inspection, local universities, and five government-related organizations.
After opening remarks from Liverness and Cyberview, Mr. Nakatsuma, representative of CAST Corporation, and Mr. Fadzly, representative of Beyond Horizon Technologies, each took the stage to give specific introductions of their companies' technologies and introduced their services to the participants.

The companies then took advantage of the open space at the Center of Garage Malaysia, an incubation facility, to showcase their technology demonstrations. CAST Inc. demonstrated thickness measurement using ultrasonic sensors and the user interface using two types of actual pipes to showcase inspection results in cases of pipe corrosion. Among them, a drone manufactured by Liberaware, a Japan-based venture company that can inspect micro-spaces such as rooms, attics, and pipe interiors (a joint sales MoU has been signed with Beyond Horizon Technologies), was actually flown inside a facility to demonstrate how it can crawl on ceilings. The demonstration was conducted in the facility. In addition, a demonstration of diagnosing the thickness of a pipe, which CAST Inc. constantly observes at a fixed point, using an ultrasonic sensor mounted on a drone of Beyond Horizon Technologies, was given to introduce the strengths of both companies and how they use their technologies differently.

After the demonstration, individual business meetings were held with participating local companies to discuss the possibility of introducing specific services.

Thus, by utilizing RIVANES' deep-tech platform in Malaysia, Japanese and Malaysian companies can jointly conduct seminars to bring together local stakeholders and gain avenues for introducing new technologies. RIVERNESS plans to continue to hold TECH GARAGE Seminars on various technology themes, featuring technologies and challenges from Japan and around the world to expand into Malaysia and other Southeast Asian countries.
